We would prefer graphics laid out in RGB image mode but we can accept
CMYK graphics if they already exist. Avoid the "RED" family
of colors or any highly saturated colors - they will "bleed"
on video. top
WHITE & BLACK:
In many cases, white & black tend to "buzz" on TV.
To avoid this, prepare graphics to the following guidelines:
WHITE: The luminance of white should be no more than 80%
BLACK: The luminance of black should be no less than 10%
Text should be set for 24pts. or higher. This decreases the chance of the letters "ringing" on TV. However, the smaller point size used is 15pts. This size is normally used for
disclaimers. top
FONTS:
When choosing a font we advise you stay away from thin serif fonts.
Thin fonts "ring" on TV. Instead pick a thick bold font. top
TITLE SAFE AREA:
In post-production it is required that all graphics are created in a "safe area". The purpose for this is to avoid graphics
from being cropped out of the TV screen. top
72dpi:
When creating graphics, set the resolution to 72dpi. This is the
necessary resolution for TV. top
CANVAS SIZE:
w=640 pixels x h=480 pixels: This is the common canvas size for
TV when supplying STANDARD DEF still graphics.
w=720 pixels x h=486 pixels: This is the common canvas size for TV when supplying STANDARD DEF animations.
w=1920 pixels x h=1080: This is the common canvas size for TV when supplying HIGH DEF animations. top
FILE FORMATS:
Our editing system accepts .PIC, .TGA and .TIFF top
LAYERS & ALPHA KEYS:
Creating an alpha key is necessary when supplying a graphic with
no background. The alpha channel is the fourth channel, consisting
of black and white. It sets the exact keying of graphics or animation.
This step is very complex but very neccessary, so do not hesitate
to contact us. top
BLURS:
Adding one blur to your graphic reduces line noise and buzzing
when viewed on TV. top
